I am at an important intersection of my business and feel the best choice for myself and my family is to take a step back. The opening of a brick and mortar in a time of skyrocketing ingredient prices, staffing concerns, unaffordable commercial spaces, and rising interest rates is just not smart. And I don’t want to sacrifice my work-life balance just for a job, no matter how much I love it. In my opinion, the market is too volatile to further my business and so I’ve decided to take the safe route and will be closing effective October 29.
I appreciate all of my customers for making my little business so successful! I wouldn’t take that back in a second! My customer base is absolutely incredible! Please continue to support local businesses and farmers markets!
HOSPITALITY IS NOT JUST THE FOOD AND DRINK. IT IS THE ART OF TAKING CARE OF PEOPLE. YOURSELF INCLUDED.
RITCHIE'S BAKERY IS NOW
ABOUT THE BAKERY
At Ritchie’s Bakery, our focus is artisanal breads and pastries, handcrafted in small batches. Our sourdough breads are naturally leavened using our own starter; fermented slowly to promote flavour, nutrition, and digestibility. We use flour and grains that are organic and Canadian grown; and most flour is locally milled. When choosing sweeteners, we try to limit sugar as much as possible, substituting refined white sugar for maple syrup, dates, fruit puree or similar natural unrefined sweeteners. When available, we choose products that are in season and grown locally and buy from small, family-owned suppliers whenever possible.
Looking forward to seeing you!

"The Real Bread Campaign aims to increase the enjoyment, production and consumption of bread made with natural ingredients, appropriate fermentation and no adulterants. We think good bread should play a larger part in the physical, mental and social wellbeing of the nation. And we want to see grain and bread production at the heart of a sustainable ecological food system."
